The CSA Washington DC Metro Area Chapter (CSA DC Metro) is an Official Chapter of the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) with the focus of growing the field of Cloud Computing Security through individual (and collaborative) contribution with public and private organizations across the Washington D.C. Metropolitan Area.
The mission of the CSA DC Metro is aligned with the Official Cloud Security Alliance mission which is "to promote the use of best practices for providing security assurance within Cloud Computing, and provide education on the uses of Cloud Computing to help secure all other forms of computing."
As of January 1, 2011, there are over 100 members in the LinkedIn group.
The primary purpose of the CSA DC Metro Chapter is to promote the education, research and development in the domain of Cloud Computing for individual and organizational improvement of capabilities relating to the governance, auditing of and/or management consulting in the fields of Cloud Computing based enterprise Information Technology (IT) information security, audit and control, and corporate governance. The evolving macro level objectives of the Chapter are:
A - To promote the education of and help expand the knowledge and skills of its members in the interrelated fields of Cloud Security, Governance and IT assurance, management consulting, security architectures, audit and control, and corporate governance;
B - To provide a forum for free exchange of Cloud based IT Security Governance and Compliance, IT corporate governance, and security techniques, approaches, and problem solving by its members;
C - To promote adequate communication to keep members abreast of current events in various industries and public and private sector and in the fields of Cloud IT security, audit and control, Cloud IT assurance, Cloud IT corporate governance.
D - To communicate to management, auditors, universities, and IT professionals the importance of establishing controls necessary to ensure the effective organization and utilization of Cloud computing based IT resources and ecosystems.
E - To promote the Association’s professional certifications and Cloud Security governance.
